Tim & Nicole’s Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse Wedding

Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse is our favorite wedding location on the central coast, and it was a perfect fit for Tim & Nicole's wedding. The farmhouse and surrounding landscape is definitely not your typical California experience, but that's what is so cool about it! It actually reminded us of a destination wedding that we shot out in Montana 2 years ago. The Land of the Living Skies

We recently flew up to Saskatchewan, Canada to visit Dad#1 :) Saskatchewan actually means the "Land of the Living Skies" and it's where I (Austin) was born. This was my first time going back since I a kid. The landscape, colors, and fresh air couldn't have felt better - especially since we got to enjoy it with "Grandpa"! We brought one camera, one lens, and about 20 memory cards ;) The time as a family (outside of the airplane) was quality and so needed, but being back is good - back to work!

Jesse + Corrie’s Tiber Canyon Ranch Wedding

Jesse & Corrie got married in Tiber Canyon Ranch - a beautiful property, just outside of Santa Barbara in wine country. The wedding was intimate, cozy, and very peaceful - much like them! The guests were incredible, and we actually made a few new friends - bonus! Everyone loved the slideshow we played. Here it is - we hope you enjoy it too! Editing in Tears

Wow. Sometimes, when editing a photo, the perfect song comes on... [mp3player width=130 height=20 config=one-song.xml file=http://austindara.com/blog/audio/jamaisvu.mp3] The song, btw is called "Jamais Vu" by Dredg. Dredg is one of those bands that inspires your heart to keep loving.

Mike & Amanda: Day Before Getting Hitched

Mike & Amanda had a destination wedding in Montana! The before the wedding, they invited us to their rehearsal dinner to eat with close family and friends. Of course we had to take pictures, and it was a perfect excuse to take some "engagement" shots before the big day. Mike and Amanda: thanks for being rebels with us on the tracks ;) Love you guys!!

Jeff & Rita’s Underwater Shoot

The day after Jeff & Rita's wedding, we decided to test out our new water housing. We only had about 1/2 hour of light, but we managed to snap a few keepers ;)

We got this an email a few days ago:

Best of Santa Barbara

“Congrats! Austin and Dara Photography will be listed as one of the BEST PHOTOGRAPHERS in the Santa Barbara/Los Angeles area for Best of Weddings 2010! WAY TO GO! Our “knotties” think you’re one of the BEST and we will be spreading the word online and we will be emailing our brides about all of the prestigious winners the beginning of January right in the peak of engagement season!”

“One of the best wedding photographers in Santa Barbara”? Haha – Well, there really is a lot of us I’m sure! Especially since this award covers Santa Barbara County all the way down to L.A. Thanks to anyone who might of voted for us – this came as a complete surprise!

I know that we used theknot.com to plan our wedding back in the day – anyone else using it? If so, let us know if you voted for us. We should have you over to celebrate! Also, let us know how you went into the future to make us “best of” in 2010 – I’m still baffled by that part.
