Engagements

It was freezing cold on this day, and windy, and basically torture, but Cody and Laura were champs and we came down the mountain some rad shots. Cody’s beard kept him warm, but Laura and I had to suffer in our dresses.  Okay, okay, so only Laura had a dress on, but enough about that, hehe.  Let me tell you about these guys: They relax everyone in the room just by entering it, they make relationships look easy, and they work insane hours without going insane.  Aaaand they know everything about sneezing pandas that there is to know.

The engagement shoot is basically the best thing ever: you get to hang out with each other, talk about your relationship, and help create some awesome images. Now, if you add rain and coffee into the equation, you’ve got a whole other level of awesomeness.

It had been pouring that whole week, and I half expected Trevor and Cat to back out of the shoot, but as you can see… they didn’t. Dara and I high-fived when we heard back that it was still a go. :)

A little known fact: Dara and I did not kiss until we were engaged. So, when I found out that these two are not kissing until they are married, I almost did a back flip into a parked car. Fortunately, I was able to flip over the car completely and land unharmed, so it was no big deal. We cannot wait to capture that first kiss at their wedding, and you can be sure that it will be blogged.

PS: Actually, I think it was a double backflip…

Ben’s smile tells me that he knows something that I don’t, or that he’s up to something… haha! Either way, this makes Ben a blast to hang out with. His quick sense of humor kept us rolling the entire shoot, and there wasn’t a silent moment between the two of us. My cheeks still hurt from that day! Stacy is probably the only person who can keep a straight face around Ben, yet she always has that content smile in her eyes. Every time Stacy laughs, you get the feeling that you’ve known her for years. She is such a compliment to Ben, definitely his biggest fan, and no doubt the perfect one for him to come home to every day.

There is something very sacred between these two and you can catch a glimpse of it in their eyes just before one makes fun of the other. :) Thank you Ben and Stacy for hanging out, going on this shoot, and having dinner with us afterward. Your wedding is going to be awesome town!

After an awesome first meeting with Will & Jen, we asked them (as we always do), “Do you want to go shooting right now?!” and they said YES!  OHHH, how we love to hear that word!

Here are a few shots that we took just before sunset in San Francisco’s financial district.  Afterward, we headed out to the world famous Burger Bar for some great beer and good eats :)

big buildings of San Francisco's Financial District and a soon-to-be married couple

buildings in the background, romance in the foreground

this was right before the security guard scolded us

I just kept saying, These are going to be sooo sick

these guys wanted to be part of the shoot - that was fun

I love those old historical buildings

Did I mention that we only had one lens for this whole shoot?!  Since Austin is a lens-junkie, it was a fun exercise in simplicity and creativity.  Can anyone guess which lens it was that we had?
